Erma passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at Kendal at Granville. She was born October 1, 1919 in Ross County, Ohio to the late Harley and Maude (Jennings) Mace.

A 1937 graduate of New Holland High School, Erma furthered her education at The Ohio State University earning a degree in Home Economics in 1941. In 1943 she married Myron L. Rutledge (who passed away in 1999); they made Granville their home in 1950 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served on the Outreach Committee and was known for welcoming new members with her homemade brownies. Erma’s contributions to her community were recognized in 1989 when she was awarded the Granville Rotary Service Above Self Award.

A volunteer, homemaker, and substitute teacher, Erma enjoyed playing golf, reading a good murder-mystery, watching Buckeye football and basketball, and playing bridge. She was a talented seamstress and an amazing cook, sharing her recipes with anyone who asked for them. She will be remembered for her genuine care and concern for others, grace, and generosity. She loved Granville, her family, and her friends, and was interested in every story anyone had to tell.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Bonnie Rutledge, Stephen Rutledge, and David and Leda Rutledge; grandchildren, Lindsay Rutledge, Brad (Anya) Rutledge, Bailey Rutledge, Ethan Rutledge, Galen (Carrie) Rutledge, Alison (Daniel) Brown, and Dean (Lindsay) Rutledge; and great grandchildren, Lucy, Maddox, Lydia, Bennett, and Jude.
