Helen J. Marriott

A funeral service celebrating the life of Helen J. Marriott, 94, of Granville, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville with the Rev. Casey Wilson as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 P.M. prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Welsh Hills Cemetery in Granville.

A 1940 graduate of Granville High School, Helen passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newark. She was born in 1922 in Granville to the late Samuel J. and Dora Viola (Hankinson) Sipe.

Helen was a retired employee of Merle Norman Cosmetics in Newark and a former employee of Town and Gown, Granville. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Garden Club, and the Ein-Ar-Egan Card Club.  Helen enjoyed painting and volunteering at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are her sons, Philip M. Marriott of Richmond, VA, Christopher R. Marriott and his wife, Debbie, and Mark H. Marriott both of Granville; grandsons, Justin Marriott and his wife, Megan, and Matthew Marriott; and great grandchildren, Grayson and Madeline Marriott.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, W. David Sipe and sisters, Thelma, Adaline, Phyllis, Anna Mae, Alberta, Alice, and Ruth. Helen was the last of the Sipe children to survive, bringing an end to an era, but is at peace to be reunited with her family.
