Ross Frank Jones, of Cincinnati, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 surrounded by family in the comfort of his home, following a valiant, eight-year battle with cancer. He was 45 days shy of his 70th birthday.
Ross was born on September 13, 1946 in Newark, Ohio. Following college at Muskingum University (‘68), he married Rebecca (Becky) Kifer, and together they had two children, Wendy and Scott. Ross re-married to Valerie Arnold in 2002. Ross worked in supply chain logistics at Procter & Gamble for 34 years until his retirement at age 54, when he embraced a full life of golfing, golden retrievers and glasses of Chardonnay, and continuing to exceed all expectations in his role as an awesome husband, dad and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross Franklin and Rhea Belle of Granville, Ohio and St. Cloud, Fla.
He was a proud brother of the MACE fraternity; served as a visiting professor at Miami University ('04-06); volunteered as a coach with The First Tee of Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky; served on the golf, green and grounds committees at Terrace Park Country Club (TPCC), where we was a member since 2000; and was a life-long Buckeye loyalist.
Ross is survived by his wife, Valerie, and stepdaughter Kate; his children, Wendy Sarkisian (husband Scott, son Andrew) and Scott (wife Joy, children Addison and Justin); and the most wonderful friends for whom a man and his family could ever ask. His absence leaves a profound feeling of loss in each of our hearts, and moving forward we always will remember that patience is perhaps the greatest virtue, optimism and consistency can conquer all, and there is nothing more important than family, health and love.
Funeral service will be held for immediate family. The Celebration of Life will be open to all to celebrate Ross's life (and The Ohio State University's 2016-2017 football roster) at Terrace Park Country Club (5341 S Milford Rd, Milford, OH 45150) on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. ET, which will include brief special remarks at 2:30 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
