Kirk Buckham Obituary

Kirk Darryl Buckham, 69, of Westerville, Ohio entered eternal rest on June 20, 2018 after bravely battling cancer for many years.

Kirk was born in 1949 in Erie, PA to the late Kenneth and Lillian Buckham. He graduated from Denison University where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.  Kirk received his MBA from the University of Missouri.  He served in the United States Air Force as a Missile Launch Officer at Whiteman Airforce Base, Missouri.  He married his high school sweetheart, became a father, and lived most of his life in Ohio and California.  Kirk worked in the paper industry for 37 years and retired from Unisource as a Print Manager while living in Costa Mesa, CA.  Kirk was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing top courses in the US and Ireland. He participated in the men’s golf league at St. Mark’s Episcopal church. He also enjoyed reading mystery novels, traveling the world, and trying to beat his girls at UNO.

Kirk is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathryn; daughter, Kaya (Sonny) Pierce; two grandchildren, Lillian and Emmerson; brother, Kent Buckham; niece, Emily (Les) Buday and children; nephews, Matthew Witkowski, Ryan (Christy) Buckham and children; and cousins, Scott and David (Tootie) Oelslager.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on July 7, 2018 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Rd., Columbus, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio Foundation, P.O. Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058, a truly outstanding organization that helped Kirk during his most difficult days, and ultimately allowed him to pass in peace.
