Robert Davis Obituary

God, country, and family were the core beliefs of Robert E. Davis, Colonel USAR (Retired). Colonel Davis died unexpectedly on November 17, 2018. He was 91 years old.

Bob was born in Kenton, Ohio to the late Cecil J. and Pauline Davis. After graduating from Kenton High School, the next day, Bob entered the U.S. Army. He began a 30-year military career as a Private, served in WWII, Korea, The Ohio National Guard, and Army Reserve. Bob studied at The United States Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and The Ohio State University.  Additionally, he was employed by Owens Corning Technical Center in Granville where he was Manager of Facilities Planning and Development.

Dependable, proud, and reliable are some of the words that best describe Bob. He loved his family, was a faithful friend, and cherished his lunch crew. Bob enjoyed working outdoors at his home, genealogy, and the Buckeyes. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newark, American Legion Post 85, and a life-time member of VFW.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Wanda L. Davis; children and their spouses, Kent and Jenny Davis, Kerry Davis, and Kristie and Mike Green; grandchildren and their spouses, Tracy and Jeremy Hysell, B.J. Davis, Jessica Davis, Ryan and Leah Green, and Colin and Megan Green; ten great grandchildren; and brother, Michael R. Davis.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Richard L. Davis.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Rev. Scott Campbell as celebrant. Full military honors will be rendered by the Licking County Veterans Alliance and U.S. Army.
