A memorial service celebrating the life of Songin K. “Sunny” Benjegerdes, 52, of Granville, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Casey Wilson as celebrant. A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with military honors conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Sunny passed away February 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in 1965 in Seoul, South Korea to the late Kim Young Wook and Lee Jong Won.
Sunny served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years, working on satellite communications and as a paramedic. She was a deeply religious woman from a family of several missionaries and pastors. She came to the United States and enlisted in the Air Force to help others and give back what she had received in South Korea as a child.
Sunny was a member of Centenary Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed cooking oriental dishes, listening to Christian music, making origami, sewing, and working with the Granville music program. She will be remembered as a devoted and caring wife and mother who was always cheerful and most thoughtful of others.
Surviving are her husband, Donald F. Benjegerdes and their children, Samuel, Stephen, and Sharon; sisters, Kim Sung Ran, Kim Sung Juk, and Kim Sung Ah; and brother, Kim Kyung Hoon.
The family will receive friends in Shepherd Hall at Centenary U.M. Church from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
Memorial contributions may be made to Granville Music Boosters, Centenary UMC Choir, or Granville Recreation District for a playground bench in memory of Sunny.
