Cheri L. Spoo

February 7, 1953 — July 18, 2025

Utica

On July 18, 2025, Cheri L. Spoo passed away at the desired age of 39 and her goal of a size 8.

Cheri was born in Nebraska on February 7, 1953, and grew up in Alexandria, Minnesota where she was a member of the class of 1971 at Jefferson High School. She met her husband Kevin while she was a student at the College of Saint Benedict and he a student at Saint John's University. The two were married in 1976 and were able to celebrate 49 years of marriage together.

Cheri was the loving mother to her daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Spoo-Chupka (Jonathan Chupka) and her son, Steven Spoo.

At a young age her first job was at a nursing home in Minnesota where she began developing her compassion for caring for the elderly, which Cheri continued throughout her life. While working and volunteering at many facilities, including Centerburg Respiratory Care facility, Chapel Grove Assisted Living, and Middleton Senior Living, she developed many long-lasting friendships and many short ones.

Cheri dedicated much of her life to serving the Lord and made herself available wherever she could to share her love. She gained many friends throughout her years spreading her joy and sharing her heart with those in her Bible study group, St. Edwards, St. Vincent de Paul, and prison ministry.

Never saying “No” to a new adventure, new experience, and new challenge, she walked through this world with an open mind, an open heart, and an even better sense of humor that could make a priest blush. All while struggling through her own health issues and ailments that could deter many, her laugh, her drive, and her love for the Lord, was never questioned.

The Spoo family would like to express their gratitude to all that have been a friend throughout Mom’s 72 years and have helped enrich her life and spirit to be so fulfilling.
