Jill Lee Shaffer, born on August 9, 1954, in Coshocton, Ohio, passed on Sunday, June 15, 2025 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, at the age of 70. Jill was a beloved stepmother, sister, and step grandmother, whose life was marked by her dedication to family, her career, and her many passions.

Jill’s distinguished 37-year financial services career commenced in 1980 at E.F. Hutton, and was completed in 2017 at Morgan Stanley due to her diagnosis of FTD. Employment destinations stretched across the nation from the East Coast to the West Coast, where she was the Operations Manager of the largest producing Smith Barney Investment Firm’s office at Menlo Park, California. Her professional expertise and commitment earned her numerous credentials and respect within her field.

Beyond her professional life, Jill was a devoted member of St. Edward The Confessor Catholic Church. She was also known for her culinary skills, her love of gardening and her talent for interior decorating, which brought joy and beauty to those around her.

Jill is survived by her loving husband, Joseph A. Zarr, cherished step-daughters, Kara Zarr and Kendra (Josh) Simon; her loving sister; Jan Shaffer; and her treasured step-grandchildren, Wellington and Madeline. She joins her parents Allen D. Shaffer and Martha A. Shaffer, who preceded her in death.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date to honor Jill’s remarkable journey and the impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD). Donations can be made via the website at “theaftd.org” or sending checks made payable to AFTD, located at 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406, reflecting Jill’s compassionate spirit and dedication to meaningful causes.
