Obituary

Jodie Alice Crecca 92, of Granville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday May 13, 2026. Jodie Fischer was born on March 16, 1934, to Walter and Alice Fischer in Charleston, West Virginia. She grew up in Charleston and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School. She started at West Liberty University and transferred to Morris Harvey College (today, University of Charleston). At Morris Harvey College she was a cheerleader and graduated with a degree in Education. After graduating, she worked for American Airlines and met John D. Crecca Jr., a chemical engineer working for DuPont in Belle, West Virginia. They married in 1958 and relocated to Newark and subsequently Granville, when the Owens Corning Technical Center opened in 1960. They had three children Michael (Mike), David (Dave), and Thomas (Tom).

After relocating to Granville, Jodie remained close to her family and roots in Charleston specifically, and West Virginia in general. She had fond memories learning and playing the piano for many years as well as enjoying time on the family farm near Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Jodie’s faith and family were the centerpiece of her life, which included the wonderful pets she loved and adored. She was actively involved in the Granville community, working at the Welsh Hills Travel Service, supporting events at St. Edward’s Church, and volunteering at the food pantry. She was also a big sports fan and follower of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Jodie is preceded in death by her father Walter, mother Alice, husband John, and son Mike.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law: Dave and Anne Crecca and their children, Elizabeth and J.D.; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Pam Crecca; and daughter-in-law Michele and her children Anthony and Mary (Crecca) Peede, and great grandchildren Amethyst and Saphira Peede.

Visitation hours will be from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M. on Friday May 29, 2026, at McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 30, 2026, at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Road, Granville, Ohio.
