Patricia Hunter Arant passed away peacefully at her residence on October 12th, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry Edward Arant.
Born in Barboursville, West Virginia, Pat was the daughter of Lura McDonald Hunter and Lloyd Chamberlain Hunter.
She graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia in the early 1940s where she obtained a B.A. in Mathematics and Home Economics. She later earned a M.A. degree in Education from Montclair State Teachers College in Montclair, New Jersey.
On May 8, 1945 (VE day) she married the love of her life, Harry E. Arant, and together they raised two children.
Pat was a gifted educator. She taught Home Economics at Franklin School in Nutley, New Jersey for 25+ years until her retirement. Her specialty was sewing and she initiated the tradition of producing an annual fashion show where her students modeled their own creations made under her tutelage.
She is survived by her children Lucy (Michael) and James (Eileen) as well as her five adored grandchildren Harry, Jacqueline, Lura, Patrick and Olivia.
There will be no memorial service at this time. A ceremony will take place at Grace Episcopal Church in Nutley, New Jersey at an undetermined future date.
