A memorial service for Sarah Lucinda Davison, 63 of Granville, will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Centenary united Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville, Ohio 43023 with Rev. Bob Long officiating.
Sarah passed away April 1 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Ohio’s Hospice of Central Ohio, following a brief but determined battle with cancer.
Sarah was born December 4, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert and Mary Fickle, was raised in Bexley, Ohio and graduated from Bexley High School in 1981. Immediately upon graduation, Sarah went to work for Motorists Mutual (now Encova) Insurance, where she worked for 44 years. Along the way she obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Franklin University, and met Tim Davison, who would become the love of her life.
Tim and Sarah married in 1987 and enjoyed a dream marriage of 38 years. For over 30 of those years, the couple devoted their lives to supporting the volleyball, girls soccer, girls basketball and softball teams at Granville High and Middle School. Sarah kept the scorebook for volleyball and basketball, and they worked together to keep score and statistics for softball. But Sarah’s love for the female athletes at Granville went far beyond working at the scorer’s table. She diligently kept track of every current and former player’s birthday so she could extend wishes to them, she produced beautiful programs for every Senior Night that became valuable keepsakes for parents and grandparents, and she arranged for flowers to be provided to every player at each end-of-the-season banquet. However, Sarah was known mostly for her chocolate chip cookies, a favorite of virtually every girl who wore a Blue Aces uniform.
Sarah received numerous honors and awards for her service to Granville; including honorary membership in the Granville High School “G” Club, the District 11 Outstanding Service Award, two-time recipient of the OHSAA State Award, honorary membership in the Granville High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and recipient of the Granville Rotary Service Above Self Award. Most recently she was honored by Granville High School when the girls’ varsity locker room was dedicated in her honor.
Sarah was a woman of a quiet but true faith in God and her Savior Jesus Christ. She expressed this faith through her long-time service as a Sunday School teacher at Granville’s Centenary United Methodist Church, and through her love of her family, her community and Granville High and Middle Schools.
In addition to her husband Tim, Sarah is survived by sisters Martha Fickle of Newark and Maggie (Rob) Smith of St. Louisville; brother-in-law Bill Davison (Nancy Haegel) of Golden, Colorado; nephews Seth (Gabriella) Smith of St. Louisville, Andrew Smith of St. Louisville, and Andrew Davison (Rene) of Wellington, Colorado; and nieces Lydia (Ben) Severns of Mount Vernon, Ohio and Rachel Davison of Golden, Colorado. Sarah is also survived by dozens of current and former Granville female athletes who can now proudly claim to have participated in their sports under the loving and loyal eyes of Sarah Davison.
The family will greet friends from 4-7 PM Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St, Granville, Ohio 43023. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Granville Athletic Boosters,248 New Burg Street, Granville, OH 43023; or to Ohio’s Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH, 43055.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staffs, doctors and management of Licking Memorial Hospital and the Select Specialty Hospital of Southeast Ohio, and to the caretakers of First Light Home Care.
