Annie V. Cacciato

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Annie V. Cacciato, 58, of Millersport, formerly of Granville, at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Rd., Granville with Msgr. Paul P. Enke as celebrant.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 12th from 4:30 -7:30 P.M. at Bryn Du Mansion, 537 Jones Rd., Granville.

A talented and loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to many, Annie passed away at her home on November 8, 2021. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Northridge High School and the University of Cincinnati.

Annie was a passionate, bright, caring, and determined woman who made an impact on the lives of so many. Prior to motherhood, Annie was a successful advertising sales executive in multiple markets for Time Warner Cable and Continental Cablevision. In her management roles Annie built and led sales, operations and production teams that consistently exceeded performance goals. Most importantly, Annie developed lasting friendships in her business relationships, none more so than those she found while living in Fresno, Ca., and it’s also how and where she met her Husband Matt in the summer of 1994.

The couple wed on April 13, 1996 and after a rewarding 15 year professional career, Annie and Matt began their family when Nicole was born in August of 1998 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, California. Daughter’s Grace and Josephine were born in 2001 & 2002 respectively at Providence St Joseph’s hospital in Burbank, California. Shortly thereafter the couple decided to move from Los Angeles to Granville, Ohio to be with Annie’s family.

Beginning in 2007, Annie entered into philanthropy when she and a group of friends started the Granville Studio of Visual Arts at the Bryn Du Mansion. A dedicated art studio and creative space successfully launched in 2008 and was followed by additional offerings for online art education programs. The spirit of GSVA and programs Annie and her partners launched,  moved to the Village of Granville in 2016 and offer inspiration to the community today.

In everything she did, Annie’s determination and leadership shone through and she raised those around her to be as passionate as she was. After Annie was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in November of 2013, she became a devoted advocate for the disease and worked closely with her Thoracic Oncologist, Dr. David Carbone, to raise the image, awareness and funding for critically important research, much of which extended Annie’s time with us. In particular, Annie was committed to radon awareness, testing & mitigation, as Annie firmly believed it was the root cause of her cancer. In her time of advocacy, The Blue Beautiful Skies Fund at the James was created, and she contributed to the spread of awareness through Breath of Hope Ohio, Lungevity and Radon Be Gone. In the last year of her life, she achieved a much desired goal to help pass legislation that would raise awareness of the dangers of radon with its own designated month. This past summer, Annie was present when Governor DeWine sighted the Annie Cacciato Radon Awareness Act into law, and January 2022 will be the inaugural Radon Awareness Month in Ohio.

Not only was Annie successful in the philanthropy and professional world, but in so many other ways as well. She was a loving wife, a compassionate mother, and a cherished friend. There was nothing more she loved than being on the water in her beloved Checkmate boat with the ones she loved. Whether it be water skiing, kayaking, or boating, she found a way to be on the water. Annie will be greatly missed, but her advice and love will always be remembered.

Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Matt; daughters, Nicole, Grace, and Josphine; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Tina Vaia ; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl Vaia and Herb Bresler; and two canine companions, Nellie and Phoebe.
