Carolyn Chambers Obituary

Carolyn Chambers was born on June 10, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio and died on December 4, 2022 in her home in Newark, Ohio.

She was raised in Bexley, Ohio and received her schooling from the Bexley school system, OU, and she graduated from OSU.

She taught in the south end of Columbus for several years before meeting her husband, Bill on a blind date, in 1962. They moved to Granville, OH and purchased a historic home where they raised their two sons. Their home would end up on the National Registry. Carolyn loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them one on one. She loved to watch OSU Football, was an avid reader and antique collector. She and Bill traveled to Europe several times to frequent antique shops for vintage pieces to furnish their home. Once her sons were of school age, she volunteered in the Ready Program at Hebron and Granville elementary schools in addition to the Mother’s Club of Newark. Carolyn, often referred to as “Sunshine,” had a great sense of humor and was blessed throughout her lifetime with many wonderful longtime friendships.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Williams “Bill” in 1989, her son Mason in 2021, parents Edwin & Flora Lane, her brother David.

She is survived by her son Christian Thorpe of Myrtle beach (Heather), grandchildren Lizzie Lund and her husband Dane; Dillon, Will, Grace and daughter in law Lisa. She will be missed by all who knew her.
