James Coffey Obituary

A private graveside service will be held for James F. Coffey, 94, of Centerville, formerly of Granville, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Msgr. Paul P. Enke as celebrant.

Jim was born in Brockton, Massachusetts to the late J. Frank and Martha Coffey. He passed away May 8, 2020 in Centerville, Ohio at St. Leonard, Franciscan Senior Living Community.

After graduating from Brockton Public Schools, Jim entered the Navy and served during WWII with the Amphibious Forces in the Pacific. He attended Thayer Academy and graduated from Northeastern University, Boston in 1952.

A retired mechanical engineer, Jim was employed at the Newark Air Force Base and worked in metrology engineering. Prior to his career in Newark, Jim was a senior field engineer for Western Union Telegraph Company, in Cincinnati.

Jim was a member of Pi Tau Sigma, a national mechanical engineering honor society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, The Church of Incarnation, Centerville, and a former member of The Church of St. Edward the Confessor in Granville.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Esther; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
