Mary Ellen Landschulz Obituary

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mary Ellen Landschulz, 88, formerly of Coshocton, will be held October 1st at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) at the First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Broadway, Granville, with Rev. Karen J. Chakoian as celebrant. The service will be streamed live via granpres.org/mel. A celebration of life will be held at a later date on Bois Blanc Island in northern Michigan.

Mary Ellen passed away September 27th at Otterbein Senior Living Center, Granville. She was born September 16, 1934 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Matthew W. and Dorotha (Richard) McConnell.

She attended Denison University for two years prior to transferring to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she graduated with a B.A. in Education. Mary Ellen later earned her Master’s Degree at The Ohio State University. Her career spanned 40 years, teaching in area schools in several capacities, including special education and gifted programs.

A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mary Ellen enjoyed tennis, traveling, bridge and being actively involved in life at Otterbein Senior Living. She cherished family and looked forward to the events of her grandchildren’s lives whether it be a graduation, wedding, or the birth of a great-grandchild.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Sue Ellen and Frank Kern of Wichita, KS, Jayni and Bob Timmons of Asheville, NC, Ann and Wes Simpson of Fredericksburg, TX, Mark and Kathy McCarty Landschulz of Park City, UT and Julie and Ryan McLaren of Cheboygan, MI; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul Landschulz, who died in 2017, and two grandchildren.
