Richard Myers Obituary

Richard Allen Myers, 91, formerly of Grandview Heights, passed away April 15, 2021 at his home in Granville. He was born in Grandview to the late Paul L. and Lydia Myers.

A graduate of Grandview Heights High School, Richard was a member of the Brotherhood of Rooks and was honorable mention, All-State for his athletic talent in football in 1949. He then joined the Air Force and served as part of the occupation force in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War.

Richard enjoyed a career in real estate that included founding R.A Myers and Associates, an appraisal firm. He retired to Apple Valley where he was past president of the homeowners’ association and a dedicated member of the “Bad Apples”. He was also a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon.

An exceptionally kind gentleman, Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor, orneriness, extroverted personality, charm, and his perpetual motion. He kept busy traveling and tending to his latest toy whether it be a car, jet-ski, boat, or scooter.

Left to cherish his memory are his children and their spouses, Keith and Patricia Myers, Mindy and Tony Damico, Jeannine Kobylski, and Sarah and Robert Bobel; grandchildren, Danielle, Brent, Katherine, Austin, Chris, Natalie, Grace, and Molly; great grandchildren, Benjamin and Anson; brothers, Paul and John Myers; and canine companion, Daisy.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Kay, who died in 2016.

A private family memorial service will be held at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with military honors rendered by the LickingCounty Veterans Alliance.
