Wanda Davis Obituary

Our dear Matriarch Wanda L. Davis, of Granville, OH, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023. She was born August 22, 1930 in Kenton, OH. She was an amazing wife, mother and Grammy who was always there when anyone needed her.

Wanda was a very well-known part of the Granville community. She loved her family most and she loved to entertain. She was often referred to by many for being “such a sweet lady that was always stylish with her hair and make-up done perfectly”. Aside from her family she loved anything music related (especially Jessica’s music), traveling, shopping, fancy cars and hosting parties at her house. Holiday parties were a must! She will always be remembered for her amazing flower gardens on Orchard Drive, especially her roses and infamous snapdragons. Her homemade cookies, mainly oatmeal raisin, became a family staple. She always had them ready when anyone would show up for a visit. Being a Grammy was one of her favorite roles in life.

For many years, Wanda worked at Denison University in Granville. She provided support in many roles during her career, especially as the Head of Summer Conferences. Wanda devoted her career to touching the lives of many students and staff at Denison University.

Wanda is survived by her son Kent and his wife Jenny Davis of Granville. Grandchildren; Tracy (Jeremy) Hysell, BJ Davis, Ryan Green, Colin Green and Jessica Davis; son in law Mike Green, her brother in law Mike Davis and 8 great grandchildren. Everyone she loved, she loved hard and she touched deeply.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Col. Robert Davis, son Kerry Davis and daughter Kristie Green.

A graveside service to honor Wanda’s life will be held on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, The Licking County Foundation “Grow Your Music” scholarship fund or The First United Methodist Church.

The family would like to share a special thank you to the Care Team at Middleton and Hospice of Central Ohio for everything they have done and all of the love that they all shared for Mom/Grammy. An extra special thanks to Pastor Mark, Beth, Shelia and Patty. You were all extra special to her.
