A Mass of Christian Burial for Peter A. Jiran, 72, of Granville, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Rd., Granville with Monsignor Paul P. Enke as celebrant. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
A broker in the transportation business, Peter passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Kendal at Granville. He was born in 1944 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Joseph and Evelyn Jiran.
Always active, Peter enjoyed bicycling, skiing, and tending to any project at hand, whether it be in the yard, wood shop, or garage. He was a passionate car enthusiast and spent hours caring for his families’ vehicles.
His good nature, storytelling ability, and willingness to help people were just some of the qualities that made him a great man. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend to many.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Constance “Cookie” (Walker) Jiran; son and daughter-in-law, Gabe and Jennifer Jiran; and daughter, Nicki Jiran.
In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Harrington.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 17th from 5 to 7 P.M. at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S.
