Beth, It's great to read of Stirling's many accomplishments. Not included was a deserved mention of his talent as a writer. His Christmas letters were an annual treat of his wordsmith talents. We will certainly miss him.

Sterling Apthorp, One of my favorite memories of Worthington High School, I still hear him yelling through the halls WELLS! SNYDER!! what are you doing now?! lol He was a very fair man, caring, supportive and a fond memory I've spoken of through the years. My little brother was lucky enough to know him in Granville while he was in school there. I wish this was a post about honoring him, I would love to say hello and tell him how he made a mark in my life. RIP Mr Apthorp! You were the best!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Apthorp. I was on the swim team and he was our vice principal (class of 74). We moved to Florida and in 1988 my husband and young boys took a trip back up to Ohio. I was so blessed to get to visit the school and sit and have a wonderful conversation... adult to adult. I got to tell him what a positive impact he had on my life... I pray God gives you great comfort in this difficult time. Please know that there are many who are praying for your family.

I graduated from Worthington in 1974. i always remember him as a looming figure
in the Asst Principals office. I was never on the wrong side of his office door so i
remember him as a very friendly, usually smiling and very popular among much of the students and faculty. I always found him to be fair. Although i know he was tough when he had to be. His laughter was contagious. It was always good to see him laughing. I was so sorry to read of his passing. I will always remember him fondly as he was when i was in school. My condolences to his family and friends. i am sure he will be missed by all.

Beth and Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on this loss. Sterling was such a wonderful person - smart, engaged, well-respected in the educational and swimming community. I loved working with him in swimming and diving and will always cherish the time we spent together in support of providing the best programs possible for the students who participate in swimming and diving in Ohio's schools. Sending prayers and blessings.

Mr. Apthorp as we knew him in high school(class of '75 Thomas Worthington High School)
affected so many students through out the years. Always in a positive way. Of course that often wasn't realized until years later. Can't say I wasn't personally invited to his office occasionally but I'm a better person for it.
