Grandpa,
There were so many conversations we didn't have but I enjoyed every moment with you. One of my fondest memories is sitting at a drafting table in the basement of the condo learning your tips and tricks of watercolor painting. I was in awe of how your brushstrokes turned into trees and their shadows and the prettiest sunsets emerged from lines across the paper. And then I mimicked your hand motions and my painting came to life as well...
I will treasure my last visit in Granville... When I surprised you with a flower arrangement and had a simple conversation. I think we knew it was the last time we'd see each other.
I hope you know how badly I wanted to be there with the whole family for your celebration. I will miss you dearly.
Love, Alice

Howard was my gracious host on many occasions, and I always enjoyed his company. I will be thinking of his entire family this week.
